Weight Management for Children
Image Medical Center & Spa is home to one of the most comprehensive child and adolescent weight management programs in Texas. Working in collaboration with UT Medical School at Houston, our program provides well-rounded care to children suffering from being overweight.
Image’s weight management program is tailored to children and young adults between the ages of 3 and 20. The program focuses on both the causes and effects of childhood obesity – tackling the problem at its roots and treating the problems surrounding it. Our comprehensive evaluations and treatments look at the medical, psychological, musculoskeletal, and nutritional aspects of childhood obesity.
A child or young adult is a candidate for treatment if they:
a) are overweight (Body Mass Index, BMI, in the 85th percentile),
b) are obese (BMI in the 95th percentile), or
c) have health complications as a result of their weight.
You can check you child’s BMI here, however it is important to consult with your child’s primary care physician before undergoing any weight management treatment.
